I have a Jabber account. When other people change their buddy icons, the changes is pushed to my machine.

But I prefer to use my own favorite photo.

In the old iChat client, there was an option to substitue a buddy icon (check box: "Always use this picture", in the buddy profile).

But it seems to have disappear in Messages ?

Thank you.

    Hi,

    It is still there.

You have to display the Buddy List first then do the same CMD + i keys on the Buddy to see their Info card.

You may want to go to Messages > Preferences > General Section and untick the line about "Gathering all Accounts in to one List" so that they are separate.

    HI,

    Alternatives  (ish)

If you are in a chat with someone click and hold their  Name in the "To" spot and then select Show Info card.

This gives a Pop up view that is not editable the way the other route is.

However highlighting a person/Conversation or Chat  and then using the Buddies menu > Show Info does pop up the Card properly
