I originally posted this question by accident under "Mountain Lion OSX" and had the thread erased. Unfortunately it was deleted before I finsihed reading some very helpful posts. Hopefully the memebers that were helping me out before spot this post again.

The dilmena is that I have a recovered HDD with close to 100,000 photos that were recovered (so thankful). However they are all scrambled and are sequenced 0001, 0002, etc. I orgininally had them stored on a PC in sub folders marked first by year, then by event type such as birthdays, holidays, etc. Several different cameras were used, some of which are GPS enabled.

I have used iPhoto before and just purchased Aperture but I am not sure how to handle such a large batch.

Any and all advice is welcomed as I have to get these sorted promptly. Anything that is automated or helps group large batches in a smart manner will be useful to know.

Aperture Version is 3.4.4
