What is your Aperture 3 version?

And what exactly is missing? The "destination pop-up menu" from the "Aperture library" brick or is the whole "Aperture library" brick missing?

    • If the whole  "Aperture library" brick should be missing, add it again from the "Import settings" drop down.
    • If only the "Destination" item is missing from the brick, check, if it is the same, if you try to import from a different user account (see: Isolating an issue by using another user account) and post back.

Hi,thanks for the reply. My version is 3.4.4    The whole of the above pic is missing except for the import settings drop down menu. But that dosn't help either because the only option there now is "file info with a tic against it. ie, it doesn't allow me to make any change.

Not even the "reset to defaults" option?

If it is there, try that.  Restart the system, if you have not already done so.

If options in the User interface are missing, this is usually caused by corrupted preferences files and preset files in the user library. To check if that is the case, log into a different user account, for example the "Guest account". Launch Aperture. Do you see the missing import options there?

Thanks, Logging in as another user has returned the options. Now how do I fix it in mine?

That is good news. It confirms that your Aperture installation and the system are o.k..

Remove the Aperture's user preferences from the User Library as described here:

    Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics

    Note:

Your User Library is hidden by default in 10.7.5 - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.

    • Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
    • Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
    • In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
    • From the "Preferences" folder  remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist".

Then try to launch Aperture again.

But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel.
