Someone here might be able to help you if you can clearly explain the problem, what you are trying to do, what is happening and the steps you have already tried.

Set uo that one person as two or three different people, each with a single number. John UK, John US, John Fr.  Simple.

You can assign several numbers to a person now. Sorry, I still don't understand your problem.

I don't have a problem - I just suggested a solution, which is not to assign several numbers to one person.

Well that explains why it didn't make sense in context with what the OP said :-)

It made good sense to the Subject header. Why do people head a post with one question and then ask something totally different?

Then again, why do they post a question and never return....

You can tag/label numbers with various country names as needed. Scroll all the way to the bottom and choose Custom.

Or if you need to see which number someone is using, just scroll to the top of the messages window on the conversation of said friend with many numbers (where it has call, facetime, contact buttons)

Then tap Contact and the window will slide over to show you said information. The number currently being used will be highlighted in blue.

It's the same thing for calls, Goto recents > find said friend > tap the blue arrow > and the number used will be in highlighted in blue.

Two of the great mysteries of the universe.

To be fair, though, I've been seeing the subject not matching the post a lot today. I'm wondering if it's a Jive problem.

In Contact on the Mac, you can add letters at the end of the number for example if you have 3 numbers with different countries, add the name of the country at the end of the number. When you receive a call from that number, the entire number withthe name appended to the number will appear:

+41 22 123 4567 Switerland

+34 12 123 4567 Spain

etc...

To Snowmobile, that method doesn't work. The letters just become the corresponding number on the keypad.

The train company here in Austria is 05 1717, I added AT to the end of the number like you suggested and the number when called came out to be 05 171728, needless to say I got the phone bot telling me the number was invalid.

Ten replies so far and the original poster has not expressed any interest. I suggest further help is a waste of time.

I use the MAC to enter the details as below. It worked fine without the letters turning into numbers. Have you tried updating using the Mac rather than the Iphone ?

Snowmobile, it is not possible to add letters to a contact number while working on the iPhone.

I added letters on the Mac (10.8) and it just changes those letters to numbers.

800-MY-APPLE USA becomes 800-692-7753 872 when I make a call from the iPhone.
