May 20, 2013 3:12 PM in response to WhiteCordTangleby Knucklesmac,Hello,
Which version of the PowerBook do you own?
Your PowerBook should connect fine to WPA, but if it's a Titanium model of PowerBook (a round 2001/2002) then it wont connect to WPA2. Are you sure you having problems with WPA and not WPA2?

May 28, 2013 7:30 AM in response to WhiteCordTangleby a brody,Generally speaking most places have upgraded to WPA2 and 802.11g. If all you have is 802.11b, it is better to hook up via ethernet to the wireless router, or add an ethernet wireless bridge to connect you to the wireless router that has 802.11g support.

Jun 4, 2013 7:32 PM in response to WhiteCordTangleby S.U.,It sounds like your Mac has the original AirPort card rather than the newer AirPort Extreme card, and the original AirPort card cannot do the more modern encryption. You might consider a USB wireless adaptor like this one:

It will do WPA2 encryption, and it even works on my 1998 PowerBook G3 running Panther. One of these USB adaptors will give you more portability than having to use ethernet.
Good luck!
