I found a solution which temporarily fixes the problem.  It's only temporarily since the problem keeps coming back.

    Here's what I have done :

In Finder, press command + shift + g and in the drop-down dialogue box, enter ~/Library

Locate the following preferences files :

    - com.apple.internetconfig.plist

    - com.apple.internetconfigpriv.list

In Finder, press command + shift + g and in the drop-down dialogue box enter :

    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist

Copy the files somewhere as a precaution and then delete them from the Library folder and empty the trash.

Turn Airport off and reboot.  Turn Airport back on.

It is only a temporarily fix, so Apple sort this out please!  It's very annoying since the problem exists since Lion!

    Another thing I applied :

Open finder press cmd + shift + g

    Enter : /library/preferences/systemconfiguration

Now take the systemconfiguration folder and delete it

Provide your password then delete and empty the trash

    Restart your computer

    Another temporarily solution :

Use Onyx to clean the DNS cache.

None of the above solution actually keeps the problem away but it is a temporarily solution.

I've read that Apple is working on 10.8.4 and they are concentrating on WiFi issues.  Hopefully it is a definitive fix, since the problem exists since Lion!  Apple please!

Apple should fix this now! Otherwise I'll return my MBPr... I've tried every mentioned solution across the internet and nothing worked yet. I couldn't even restore my MBP over the internet after I've messed a BootCamp installation a few days ago.

    Not cool, Apple

Have you tried troubleshooting your connection? If you have what have you tried so far.

Very disappointed at Apple.  Not a proud owner of a MBA 2012 13.3.  This is my first Mac and will be my last as I'm feed up with wifi issues.  No help from Apple support as they act like they never heard of the issue.

The most reliable (temporarily) solution I use is to reset the DNS cache : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5343

Sometimes I do a restart, reset the DNS chache and again a restart.  This helps (for the moment).

    Okay, I spoke too soon.

While my WiFi problems were indeed solved to my satisfaction, I made the fatal error of installing the Mountain Lion 10.8.4 update, and the WiFi is now just as bad as it used to be, suggesting that the update contains no WiFi fix whatsoever (much as I expected).

The same goes for other iMacs in our office - everyone who updated is experiencing the same troubles.

Then they should restore the backup that IT should have created prior to the upgrade.

Why yes, we do have system images produced just after the working WiFi fix, so we will indeed be restoring to 10.8.3. I just posted to let people know that 10.8.4 is no kind of fix for our WiFi problems.

Good that you have images, restore them

Fortunately many posters to this site have reported that the upgrade has fixed the WiFi connection issues that plagued them with 10.8.3.
