Jun 6, 2013 1:22 PM in response to JayRemyby LaPastenague,Drive is Journaled formated and works fine when physically connected to my MacBook.
Is the disk also GUID partitioned? If it was ever used on a PC it will have MBR, not GUID.. this gives issues. Plug it back into the Mac and redo the partition and ensure you select GUID. Then format to Mac OS etc.
The Mac itself has no issues with the different partition but the TC and Extreme are more sensitive. They also have less drivers for various USB chipsets around. Try the above if no luck get a powered hub and use that. Even if the disk is powered it can help.

Yes, forgot to mention that it was GUID partitioned.
I'm almost positive this has somehting to do with the drive being underpowered by the USB port as it is making a small clicking sound that doesn't occur when physically connected. I tried with a smaller usb powered drive and it worked just fine. I think the 1TB G-Drive needs more juice and the Airport extreme USB port isn't enough.
I've ordered a powered hub and hope it will fix the issue.
Does that make sense?
Thanks again

Jun 6, 2013 6:03 PM in response to JayRemyby LaPastenague,Yes.. you should never ever use a self-powered drive or like plug in a phone to charge it from a periphery device like the airport extreme. The main power supply is adequate.. only.. just adequate.. for internal use of the device.. and heat and other problems ensue when you try to draw more than rating of the USB.
