Q: AirPlay icon missing?

Try the following:

1. Reset the AirPlay devices

2. Reboot the iPad

3. Reboot the router

4. Update your router's firmware

I have tried everything suggested to get the airplay icon on my iPad. Apple TV is connected to wi-fi, iPad is connected, I have rebooted the router, airplay is 'on' on the Apple TV but when I swipe up the control centre on my iPad there is no airdrop or airplay icon. I've rebooted the iPad as well. am getting really, really frustrated the guy who sold us theApple Tv said it would be a piece of cake!!!

Counter check Apple TV setup

1. Setup Apple TV

(a) Connect cables and power cord

(b) Turn on TV and select Input

(c) Configure Apple TV

2. Setup Home Sharing on iPad

Settings>Music/Video>Home Sharing

3. Setup Home Sharing on Apple TV

Settings>Computer>Turn on Home Sharing. Enter Apple ID and Password

4. Pair Apple TV with Remote Control

General>Remotes>Pair Apple Remote

Note: Update your Apple TV software if one is available

Thanks for replying. Have done all of the above but still no airplay icon on my ipad. Everything else seems to be set up correctly. Remote is paired. Home sharing is turned on. Wifi is connected on both devices.

Are you having problem with Netflix?

Not sure - simply trying to get my ipad stuff to display on Apple TV. Not sure if I need Netflix to do that? I thought it would just be a case of setting it all up and then going for it :-)

I really just want to view content like my photos etc on Apple TV. Do I need to download Netflix to do that?

If you are not using Netflix ignore the above question.

You may want to try some basic troubleshooting.

(A) Reset iPad

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Note: Data will not be affected.

(B) Reset all settings

Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings

Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.
