Q: How to record floppies from .img files in OS X environment?
Given an Intel OS X Mac, an USB Floppy Disk Drive and a ".img" file, how to record a floppy with the ".img" content readable at Classic OS Machines?
I have several ".img" FD backup files and some vintage Macs at home, from Mac Plus up to Performa. I'd like to use my MacBook Pro with an attached USB FDD to generate new 1.44 Floppies to run in my classic machines. How to do that?
I've already formated HFS+ floppies in OS X Terminal environment. They can be written in OS X environment by coppying files into them. But ".img" files can't be oppened in OS X, so I it's not possible to copy their contents into the floppies by dragging with the Finder.
Nowadays I use to carry these files to a Performa through a ZIP disk (many files at once) and there I can make the floppies. But I wouldn't like to keep using those rare drives to record lots of floppies. I'd rather use accessible USB ones to do this hard work.
Has someone already tried to do what I want?
Thank you.
Regards,
Ciro.
