Q: I can't find my migrated photos.

I can't find my migrated photos depsite using the 'simple' migration assistant. I've read that another user account gets set up because of doing this after initial set up, however I see no additional user account. I'm completely stumped. I've wasted hours trying to migrate items. Can anyone help me please? Thanks

Did you migrate from a PC to Mac?  If so, read for possible solutions over in the "More Like This" thread over here----------------------->

If from a Mac, how did you search?  Manually?  Spotlight?  Where did you search?  iPhoto?

    Hi Baby Boomer

I've searched manually and spotlight. Having read loads of info I gather that another user account gets created, which I'm struggling to find. I've looked in system preferences > users and groups, and see no other user apart from myself.

I used the migration assistant and have migrated from PC to Mac. It said that it had been successful.

I managed to find my 'library' however I'm struggling to see any files in there that could possibly be my photos.

I will say that I am very new to apple mac's.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Are you using iPhoto? Aperture? Some other app?

however I see no additional user account.

Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups.  That lists all the accounts on your Mac. One of them should have your stuff.  Your photos should probably be in the Pictures folder, accessible via the iPhoto app.

See the Image Files section of About Windows Migration Assistant.

Hi there - I'm not using any specific App. I've just used Migration Assistant, and then expected to see a folder with my photos in.

Pondini - the only account listed is my actual account. There is a Guest Account listed which is greyed out and you can't access it. Any ideas if this is the account, and if so how do you get access to it?

    Many thanks

    Julie

No, it's not the Guest account.

I don't do Windows, but if you did the migration when your new Mac first started up, you should only have one account, and they should be there.

If you started up your Mac and created an account, then ran Migration Assistant, there should be a second account (and you should have seen this window at the end:

    8. Confirmation & Log Out window.jpg

From what it says in the instructions, you should start the iPhoto app (should be in your Dock):

And it should find them.  The normal place is, in your Pictures folder, there should be an iPhoto Library with the photos.
