I have sent following mail to this address. Thanks for your advise. I hope it will help and they will yake my advice.

" In IOS6 we have beyond our desire received an mailbox called VIP. There is no way to remove this mailbox. For me and many other ysers (see Apple support communities forum) this is  auseless and unwanted item in Apple -Mail.

Can you please make a software update that allows removing of this needless feature?

Thanks on behalf of many other users too! "

Just read through many of the responses and hope that what I found out will help someone else.  I was having trouble with VIP mailbox.  One of the contacts that I set up to be in VIP, would come through on my phone and never go to my Outlook on my computer.  So the person who said that her husband missed meetings because of this, it is very possible!  The way to get rid of the contacts in VIP, is to go to the mailbox listing, Click on Edlit.  Click and hold the VIP move it around. Then click done.  After you have done that, now click on the VIP > arrow.  It will allow you to edit or add names to the VIP.  I removed the one that gets stuck, as well as the rest just to be on the safe side so it doesn't happen with someone elses emails as well.  It is possible that the in VIP will work without the edit and moving of the box step, but I wasn't able to get it to work before this.  It wasn't until I read about someone moving their box and I tried it that the arrow was now blue and I could edit things.

    Hope this helps someone.

    This report doesn't make sense.

VIP is essentially a "smart" mailbox that shows the mails from or to special extra important people (hence VIP).

It in now way modifies the inbox.

Missing mail in Outlook on your another computer sounds unrelated?

The question is not ow to remove contacts on the VIP mailbox but: How to delete teh VIP mailbox itself.

Apple didn't put anything on it after you purchased it. Everything it has, you wanted (because you purchased it with these items).

Yeh everything is becoming a "subscription" and users have no choice or privacy, but locked in. One reason we should stop buying into crap like this.

Actually, I found that in the Mail App in Mac OS, if I remove the VIP contacts, the VIP mailbox disappears.  This should work on iOS as well.  Simple highlight each "VIP" contact and select "remove from VIP's" and the VIP "mailbox" will disappear.

I found this as I didn't even know about the VIP feature. I clicked the star that appeared by someone's email address in curiosity and found that it created this mailbox that I then could not delete.  On a whim once I saw the "remove contact from VIP's" option while right clicking on the contact within the VIP mailbox that the mailbox itself then disappeared once it had no items to show within it.  Cool!

    Hope this helps!

Looks ok for iPhone. Do you know how it might be done for  an iPad.

    Hope you can help me.

Looks OK how? As far as I can tell there is no way to delete or hide the VIP mailbox, on either iPhone or iPad.

That's correct. Only way is to create a second account. Lets say that you have a gmail account. If you enabled the iCloud account the VIP folder moved to the first screen of your Mail app.

What is the purpose of moving it? isn't it still active?

There is a complete solution for this annoyance!

When you receive an email from a person identified with a star as a VIP, open that email and click on the little star (not in the message header box, but inside the email itself). That person will instantly disappear from your VIP list! Also, as soon as you have removed every last person from your VIP list, that annoying VIPs mailbox simply vanishes. Mission accomplished.
