If you have your purchasing information then you can contact Apple to see about locating your ID, though I'm not sure what Apple's policies are regarding this.
Alternatively, you can use a new Apple ID to re-purchase OS X from the App Store.

Well first, you should be in the Lion group, not Mountain Lion Group. Anyway, here's how: (it's the same way in Mountain Lion too.)
First, shut down your mac. Then Hold down the Command and R keys at the same time when turning on your Mac. Then click on Reinstall OS X. Mountain Lion will then start to download.

This will still require the Apple ID to authorize the download of the retail license for Lion, which appears to be the problem he's running into.
To the original poster, did your system come with Lion installed, or did you have to purchase and install it from the App Store?
