MacBookPro5,3 (mid 2009).

So I've connected an external display (Dell U2711) via HDMI, which can output a resolution of maximum 1920x1080p. I would, naturally, like to utilize the maximum resolution of the display at 2560xsomething. I know via DVI it's easy, but the cable mini displayport (Macbook Pro) to displayport (U2711) is much cheaper than a mini displayport DVI adapter.

Will it run maximum resolution using mini displayport to displayport?
