Q: What is WiFi?

I've been wondering a long time, "What IS WiFi?"  /  All by-myself I think "Wireless Fidelity", where Fidelity = Truth.  Thank you.  :-)

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 2.5 GHz Intel Core I5 P. & 4 GB M.

    Thanks at providing the background, Tesserax.  I agree wholeheartedly that "Wi-Fi" is _handier_ than "IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence".

     

    But in _my_ mind at-least, I shall think "Wireless Fidelity" when I hear Wi-Fi.  :-)
