you can access files from another mac in Target Disk Mode. It would allow you to access the files on the Mac Mini much like an external HD. You would not be able to run the operating system this way. The only mac that can use Target Display Mode is an iMac using Thunderbolt. If you're going to considering purchasing a Mac Mini just for extra storage space, why not invest in a larger HD in your current portable?
I have external harddrives but I can't download applications to them because they don't have an operating system on them...(that's what the dialogue box says when change the target destination of an application im downloading to an external.) And i can't put the mac OS on an external harddrive... so i was trying to go the mac mini route because it has the os on it. Also one of my externals died on me suddenly so Im kind of scared of them. lol I don't trust them.. I trust Macs tho. Thanks for your help.
