Q: Calendar - Exchange sync issue

I'm having a problem with Calendar and Exchange syncing (my company uses Exchange 2010), with the following error:

"Calendar can’t save the event “Item title” to the Exchange server.

The account "Exchange" currently can’t be modified. To discard your changes and continue using the version of your calendars that’s on the server, click Revert to Server."

The options on the dialog box are:

Revert to Server

Try Again

Ignore

Syncing in general is working, i.e., items added in either system show up as they should. And, I'm not actually changing anything on the items on my MBA. The error pops up apparently randomly--so far, at least, I haven't been able to identify a pattern. I've checked credentials, which seem to be correct, and I've verified that time zone settings are turned on as I think they're supposed to be.

Any ideas?

    Hello everyone,

I am currently on Day 10 of this experiment and have not seen the dreaded bug pop up yet. I'll let you know if the bug comes back.

This is what I did to my mid-2007 iMac:

I updated my machine with the 10.8.4 update and received the same error as before; however, once I a) removed the Exchange account in Calendar preferences; b) closed the program; c) opened System Preferences and checked Calenders / Reminders in the Exchange Account under the Mail, Contacts, & Calendars setting; and d) opened Calendar and put in my Exchange password, I have had no problems since.

    Hope this helps,

    G

I had already removed the Exchange account from Calendar before the update, but the error started coming back yesterday. Hopes dashed again.

I hadn't heard of DavMail until now — sometime when I'm bored I'll give it a shot. Meawhile, back to Exhange in the browser. Again.

I use Davmail for about 4 years (because of Exchange server 2003) it works really good, now I also manage my calendar with Davmail with Exchange 2010 Server and Apple Calendar.

Just wanted to let you know that I moved all of my sync to DavMail in the Mac.

Although a bit slower (its java) it really does the trick.

Found out that even pictures in contacts now are syncing between Mac, Exchange and (sic...) blackberry, something that its not supported natively today.

    Multiple cals are also supported.

I think I'd really stick to this until I can test Mavericks.

My notes still pending to sync dough...

    Have a good one!

    Hi all,

    Not having good news

Happens that after a while doing fine with DAVMail and the whole OSX PIM apps my Mac became slow, switched back to native Mac Exchange access, for email only. Again, it worked fine sometime.

But slowliness came back and after a while it became unbearable for my MacBook Air, noticed spotlight was in an endless indexing and time machine was crazy busy.

I receive about 2000 emails per month, and write around 500, and as I usually move large batches of email to Archive or local Mailboxes, pretty sure that triggers the indexing and backup then the Air crawling.

So, weird stuff, tried same large batch operations with Outlook and the Mac did not suffer on slowliness at all and indexing is way faster.

It is sad that I'm note able to use Mail/Calendar/Contacts for my work stuff, I *really* like the simplified, neat interface it has, and organizing mail with flags is really simple and effective, I find Outlook so overloaded with buttons and options I think makes you use more time in classifying email than actually triggering related actions.

Unfortunately I can't afford making my Mac unusable by Mail unable to handle my email. So, back to Outlook, at least until I can try Mavericks.

    Regards!

This all sounds good and I've seen that it worked for a few people so far.

I'm just stuck on the step:

"- go to Terminal and delete "rm -rf *" all the files inside username/Library/Calendars/"

I can't figure that bit out... Little help please.

    Thanks guys!

    1) open up the Terminal app

    2) navigate to user//Library/Calendars/:

    cd library

    cd calendars

    3) delete files

    rm -rf *

    ------

    Yes?

The terminal instructions were great, thank you.

However the problem hasn't gone away. Some of the apointments showed up but not all and the caution triangle is still there.

    Any other suggestions??

After the deletion I had to restart my MacBookPro 10.8.4 else it wouldn't work. Seems fine now. All entries (Exchange and iCloud) appearing and sync works nicely. Hope it will continue.

I am very curious about DavMail. We just started using exchange 365. We have 15 macs and 20 pc. I am having a very hard time viewing the exchange shared calendars in Mac Calendar. I can add delegates on some mac, but on some of them, when I try to add a delegate, nothing propagates, so there is nothing to add. They all have the same version of software.

Anyway, my question is, can MailDav help with shared calendars? Will it help us see shared exchange calendars on iphone?

Any help is appreciated. I cannot believe they cannot play nice.

Option 2, for people that like getting down to the actual details, rather than using the UI:

I downloaded BusyCal the moment I heard they'd added Exchange support.  A month and a half later, I've yet to see this error or any other problem with Exchange, and it's basically got everything I like about Calendar.app. Pretty much an ideal solution.

But now that Mavericks is here, I'm giving the built-in calendar another chance. I really like the new look, enough that I'd probably switch back to Calendar.app for daily use if the Exchange error finally goes away.

BusyCal does have some nifty added features, but I can always open it up whenever I need them.

I feel like I should get some pom poms and become a one-man cheerleading squad for Calendar.app.

I'm really disappointed of Apple. It's incredible that they are unable to fix this issue even in a new OS version (Mavericks). I'm still having issues with Calendar.

Over the last OS versions I have been experiencing the same issues. I recently updated to OSX 10.9 Mavericks only to find out that this *extremely* annoying bug still persists. Please tell me, Apple developers of the Calendar app, why can't you fix this bug?

Hello mcoppock, I think you should uncheck the reply marked as "this solved my question" in an attempt to raise a flag in the forum in the hope someone at apple takes the time to review this lenghty thread.
