I have no idea what happened, suddenly today iTunes asks me to reconfirm a user agreement and when iTunes starts, none of my stuff is there.  It looks like an update to iTunes, though I did not ask for iTunes to be updated.  Windows performed an automatic update last night, but I can't imagine how that could so dramatically impact iTunes.  It really looks like an iTunes update.  Either way, whether this is Apple's fault or MS's fault, it is iTunes that is not working so I'm frustrated as **** with iTunes.  In fact the updates over the last several years have become more and more annoying.  I suppose it would be nice if someone knows what's going on and can help as I was looking forward too listening to certain playlists tonight, but honestly it seems long term it's time to find alternative to iEverthing.  Apple products are too locked down and too much of a headache.

Don't suppose you're running AVG? That developed a habit of interfering with iTunes for some users recently.

Did you make a backup yet? If so restoring the working .itl file from your backup should be a matter of moments, though obviously not something you want to have to do frequently.

Hmm, perhaps there is a problem with iTunesPrefs.xml file which stores certain settings. This is normally found at C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml. Try dragging this to the desktop and trying again. You'll have to point iTunes at the correct .itl again, but perhpas this time it will stick. Check your options for Keep... & Copy... and the media folder afterwards just in case.

Or perhaps you're running McAfee AV? Take a look at this thread:

Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml?
