Q: Need a new Mac for Final Cut - 10POINTS TO BEST ANSWER
Hi Guys - 10 POINTS TO BEST ANSWER
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but I'll post it anyway.
I'm starting to get very into photography and videography. I started playing around with it back in 2009 when I bought my base model 21" iMac. I ran iPhoto and iMovie. Now I'm running Aperture, Final Cut Studio, Photoshop, Premiere, etc. This computer cannot handle any of these at a stable pace. So I'm in the market for a "new" computer. I'm trying to stay under $800 and these are my two options:
1) 2013 Mac Mini - $699
2.5GHz i5
8GB RAM
500GB HD
My other option I found on the internet used:
2) 2008 MacPro - $600
Quad Core Intel Xeon
6GB RAM (I plan to upgrade to a much higher level)
320GB HD (I have network storage so this is not a problem)
Which seems the best? I'm guessing the Pro but I wanted another opinion.
Thanks

MacMini. I highly doubt you need anything the MacPro has to offer...the PCIe slots mainly. Those allow you to add capture cards for broadcast work. If you shoot tapeless, or firewire tape...then you have no need for the tower.
Plus, the MacPro you listed is 6 years old...the Mini...brand new. Don't buy into old when you are getting computers. They age too fast.
