I know that iCloud uses Microsoft and Amazon servers for data storage. It should make a secure (https) connection to these servers, as described in this Apple document: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4865. Apple states that data is encrypted and transported over ssl.
However, on my Mac (10.8.2), the UBD process responsible for iCloud documents makes connection to:
both over port 80 (http), so unsecured.
I have Little Snitch installed and it asks me to allow or disallow. If I disallow, no iCloud data is synced to my Mac, so I have to allow over port 80.
Note that data that is uploaded from my Mac to iCloud does use https connection (port 443). It is data that is already in the iCloud (uploaded from my iPad) that gets downloaded to my Mac over port 80 (http).
Can somebody please tell me if something is wrong with my Mac? Is this a security risk? Is my data still downloaded to my Mac encrypted over port 80?
