Q: Viewer in Final Cut Pro X is blank.

I have a Mac-Pro 2008 and been using Final Cut Pro X.0.8 on it

I have had issues with the Hard-drive in my Mac-Pro.

I took it to a Mac Service agent. They installed a second 1Tb hard-drive and installed Snow Leopard 10.6. and made it start-up drive

When I got it home, it started on new drive, so I set it up with country registration etc.

As well as setup copied all my setting from the old Hard-drive. (FCPX; iLife etc)

Final Cut would not work with this, so had to download updates for Snow Leopard, iPhoto etc.

Final cut now opens but

no longer shows any video for existing Event clips or time line clips. Skimming does result in audio, however

if I try to play a clip (with Space-bar), Final Cut stops responding.

Also stops responding when trying to load/view Event on external drive.

Video card not changed.

Tried pulling old Hard-drive out, no change.

Checked for FCPX updates, says its up to date.

Is there some settings I can change, or do I need to delete FCPX and re-install.

If I need to re-install, can I save some of the additional download' material so I do not need to re-download that after fresh install.

Also with this hard-drive issue, how many free down-loads am I allowed of FCPX

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Does 'Root Level' mean from Finder or from within Final Cut Pro.

A little late responding to this; I over-looked that part of your follow-up.

After you created a new account, FCPX worked fine from that account. But you couldn't open the original project – because it was in your original home directory in Movies. So were you to open FCP from that original account and (working within FCP) move both project and referenced events to another drive, you would then be able to open the project from your new user. The project and events would be moved to a Final Cut Event folder (and project folder) at the root level of that drive – rather than in the Movies folder of the user.

Hope that's clear. And glad it's now working for you.
