Yep. Actually, FCP6 (which was the version in FCS2) will run, but the installer is PowerPC only and will not work on the current machines as Rosetta is not part of the OS.
There are two hacks.
One involves installing Rosetta from a Snow Leopard install disk.
The other involves using Terminal to bypass the PPC installer.
A search should turn them up or someone will point you to a thread.

Actually, with the debate over the virtualization of Snow Leopard, so as to access Rosetta in Lion and Mt. Lion (and presumably Maverick) having ended, my work on this forum is done!
Many others, including yourself, are now charged with the task of spreading the gospel!
That having been said, I will return to WARN NOT TO ATTEMPT TO INSTALL ROSETTA into Lion or Mt. Lion! There are reports of down the road damage to your system...
The two safe ways to install FCS2 are:
1. Use Pacifist:
2. Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal installation method:

Do you know if the terminal options are posted somewhere else as Jeremy Johnstone's website seems to be down. I need to install Livetype 2 from FCS 5.1 onto a new iMac 10.8.5. I may try the Pacifist option as well later.

Oh dear: I hope not permanently!
Try seaching for the terms: final cut pro terminal
I may have listed the steps once or twice before I started just linking people to his blog.
Unfortunately, one point, with pertinance to LiveType 2, is my posted note to look at a specific comment to the Blog post around July 2012; because he lists all of the Terminal instructions necessary for the ancillary programs.
A third way to install is an instruction set of which files are installed where; and someone may have posted that list of instructions as well.

UPDATE: Here is a link to my repeat of the July, 2012 comment instructions for LiveType as well as others:

I need to install Livetype 2 from FCS 5.1 onto a new iMac 10.8.5.
These instruction were for Final Cut Pro 6, which I believe was a part of Final Cut Studio 2.
I am not aware if FCS 5.1 works with these instructions.
