I've backed up the 4 to iTunes and then tried to restore the 5 from this backup. It goes all the way across the progress bar and then at the last second says it has failed. Please help?
Use a USB port directly on your computer, not a hub. Disconnect other USB devices, except mouse and keyboard (if they are USB). It would help if you can post the entire error message.
Hi, I have nothing else USB related plugged in, just my iPhone. I'm on my laptop so do not have a USB keyboard or similar.
This is the error message I receive every time I try and transfer the data to the iPhone 5 -
Thank you for your response.
corrupt mean that the file is damaged and can't be restored
delete it and make a new backup of your old phone
Thanks, I have just uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I am now backing up the iPhone 4 again before trying to restore the 5, I will let you know how I get on.
Also, how is it possible to delete a specific backup please?
I've just looked at the backup history and it's still populated.
This worked for me -
I went into the iTunes preferences and deleted all previous backups. I then disabled my firewall software and performed a new fresh backup from the iPhone 4.
I then restored back to the iPhone 5 and it worked!
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
I'm happy you have resolved the problem!
