Not for me. I have to go through that process everytime again for every app concerned and everytime an update comes out.
Apps do not transfer to another country's App Store, even if I delete the app first and then purchase (without paying again) in the country I moved to.
I have no idea how you would have got this to work.

No trouble changing country in the past. But now I get the message: You have a store credit balance; you must spend your balance before you can change stores.
Is this just a rip off or is there a way around it?

I can confirm this does not work for me, I have tried a few times in iOS app store, and OSX app store. It does not migrate the app to our new location.
No, actually u just have to do it once, then u will have the app under your apple account in that particular local AppStore. Further updates will be automatic

I have a question, if anyone can hazard a guess or knows the answer.
I called the Apple Support Hotline but was put through to my service provider that couldn't provide me with an answer.
I have an iphone that was bought in Greece, I'm planning on moving to the UK,( they are both in the EU , but that doesn't guarantee anything) I need to know if the purchases made in the greek itunes store will be accesible once I put in a UK nanosim in the iphone.
I'm not concerned about making future purchases at the moment, more about accessibilty and keeping the purcahses I've allready bought i.e iBooks.

A FIX ---
I posted this in another thread as well, but will put it here as well ....
I was having same issue, for 3 years, after moving from the US to NZ.
iTunes would indicate I had 27 updates available, but only 2 or 3 would be actually be there, because the rest were downloaded from the iTunes store in the other country, or the other credit card.
So I used to have to change my iTunes Account from NZ back to US (and address and credit card back to my US one that I still have) in order to update all apps, then change back to NZ again next day. A hassle, but it worked, because I still have a US credit card and address to use.
However, I have just found a way to update all apps, without the workaround! It's just a bit of a process if you have a lot of apps, but it is quite easy.
1. Simply open iTunes and log in to your account.
2. Click on Apps in your left menu (tonight mine was showing 27 updates available, but none showed up when I clicked for the updates)
3. View all your Apps by 'List'
4. When you hover over each App name, the arrow pops up
5. Click on the arrow, then click 'Show in iTunes Store'
6. You are taken to the App Store page for that App
7. If the button below the App icon says 'Downloaded', it means you have it and it is up-to-date.
8. IF THE FREE/PURCHASE BUTTON BELOW THE APP ICON SAYS 'FREE', IT MEANS IT NEEDS AN UPDATE (because iTunes recongnises that you have purchssed the App before). CLICK THIS AND THE UPDATE DOWNLOADS
The only issue is you have to go back to the App list and check every one until your update count gets to zero.
I hope it works for you, too.

One more thing ...
For the free Apps you have in your collection, the 'download' button below says 'Free' - you click and it downloads.
For Apps you paid for, the 'download' button says 'Purchase' - you click, it then has a confirmation box, click OK, it then has another confirmation box that says something like "you already have this one, so the update is free".

Thanks for that write-up, ckinnz, very helpful!
To simplify tracking down outdated applications, I wrote a Ruby gem called App Store Emigrant. Have posted about this earlier in this thread, but it might save you some time if you have a lot of applications.
Installation and usage instructions can be found here:

I too faced this problem after the iOS6 Upgrade. This worked for me:
Open the Appstore
Go to Featured (scroll down to bottom until you see your Apple ID)
Click on Apple ID
View Apple ID
Enter your Password
Once you login it will say your account is transferred to the respective country.
Hope this solves your problem with updates.

Well I live on an island that is nto part of Europe or UK..bu tvery close to both (Jersey) and we in Jersey have to spoof or postcodes to a UK one in order to buy anything from the App store.
Goign to be fun if they crack down on that and don't allow us to buy anything from the app store/ itunes store..The will sell us the hardware and then that is is..screw you is their attitude, we have your money, we don't care anymore.

I have a dark brown feeling that the new iTunes version FIXES THIS PROBLEM !!!!!!!!!!!
From iTunes I can now update apps bought in other country's stores !!!
Have been waiting for this to be fixed for a long time...

Can anybody confirm about Radix comment? I moved from Argentina to Colombia, switch country and seems that iTunes 18.104.22.168 really solves the problem, worked for a couple of updates that I had pending.
