Hi,

I have a macbook pro bought in April 2011. I didn't buy extended warranty. I mac froze to death one day and I have been trying to figure out how, why? I came across an article on intel recall of chipset due to some fault http://blogs.intel.com/technology/2011/01/chipset_design_flaw/Apple claims to have used their proprietary chipset(and not intels's even though it's manufactured by intel) and claimed that though processor in my laptop is sandy bridge and laptop assembly happened in same timeframe as intel's recall, their laptop don't suffer intel's chipser problem & they have not come accross any complaint on 2011 logic board. Wonder how can I find which part failed on my logic board.

I also saw lots of article on this discussion forum about issues in early 2011 macbook pro. I also saw http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377. I wonder how to determine the true reason for failure. Is their a test that I can run to tell me what exactly failed on logic board itself. I am also interested in knowing how can I find about chipset used on my device.

Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
