I purchased itunes match because my hard drive on my macbook pro broke and I had all my songs on my iphone and would like to put them on my macbook. When i turn on itunes match on my iphone it says all of my songs will be replaced on the device, what does this mean and how do i keep all of the songs i have from cds?

You can only upload songs to iTunes Match from your computer's iTunes, not from a device - turning match 'on' on your phone will remove your music contents from it and allow you to access the songs that you have in the cloud.

If you don't have your music on your Mac, and you don't have them on a backup, then you will need to copy them back from your phone first so that they can be uploaded - File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy iTunes purchased music back, for music from other sources then there are some programs listed halfway down this page which might be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
