+1 For folders to collapse / expand.

    Such a simple thing.

    Cheers.

Just updated to IOS6, and still not available...such a shame.  I run Mac & Windows networks, and have many Exchange/Office365 setups, and the folders work great (collapsable) on android devices, just not iPhones...

Not sure what latest post by RJAY means. According to DJ Geezer, there is still no facility to collapse nested folders on the iPhone. This makes the mail app absolutely worthless. Do these people not LISTEN to their customers?

Its means I am adding my voice to the post, wishing that there was a way to collapse and expand folders.

I was not stating that this is possible.

    Hi...

Listen guys sorry to dissapoint you but the first post on thie was mid 2010 in this thread were now in late 2012 if Apple were going to listen they would have made the changes by now.

I moved to a G3 a number of months back and an Android tab purely because of the poor performing email app on the IOS system. I kept my iPhone 4 and upgraded the software last night just to check and yup your right no changes to collapsable folders

    Roll on IOS7 :-)

    Just checked it further ......

You still cannot click reply or create a new email and then attach say a PDF or a jPeg or both to the email. Even the most basic email system allows you to send files what are the people at Apple thinking do they even use these phones like the rest of their customers ???

    Embarrasing .....

When they announced the new "improved" email app in the new iOS, the first thing I looked for was collapsible folder support and searchable folder titles for filing. Very disappointed to see that they ignored our complaints and put out anotheruseless email app. Are you listening Apple???

what the ****?  I hate the unified inbox.  I'd like to have all my email separate.  I wish there's a way to disable this "VIP, "all inboxes," "flagged" ********.  I hate how I can't collapse my email directories.  This mail app is completely pathetic.  We've requested simple features for years.  What's the holdup?  I've been asking work to go away from this apple bsphone to an android device for sometime now (solely because of this).  I hope we change soon.  This is getting ridiculous.

I'm with everyone here.  Collapsible folders are a basic requirement.  Super irritating it's not in there.

So I see we still have this issue which appears to be unaddressed??  I would love to hear from Apple on a solution to the collapsible folders within Mail on iPads.

    Inexplicable isn't it?

Best solution is to use "eMailGanizer". Solves the problem.

    Apple.  Please?

Heck put a paid version of email app in store.  I will buy it.

Adding yet another vote for this.  I am new to iPad and that is my first complaint.  I have 6 email addresses and many folders for my work as a freelancer.  Luckily most of my work is done on my laptop, so for now it's only a minor inconvenience, but for those who rely on it more, those folders really should collapse.

Various people on this forum have suggested emailganizer as a solution. I don't know why I didn't listen to them  instead of living with the irritation that Apple has failed to do anything about it every update over the last 2 years. Talk about not listening to your consumers!

Emailganizer is fabulous. Ties into an exchange server and works perfectly - all folders and sub folders neatly nested, lots of choice regarding setup, brilliant search facility. Thank God for 3rd party apps. If we had to rely on Apple we could sit around for the rest of our lives.

The Gmail app allows one to collapse/expand subfolders.

Install the Google app. Sign in. Select Gmail.

I saw my first level "folders" and no "sub-folders". The top level "folders" which had "sub-folders" had a + at the right hand side. Tap the + and the folder was expanded. The + was replaced with a -. Tap the -, and all the folders collapsed.
