How can you confirm what Apple updates have been applied to Mountain Lion?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    Click in the menu bar.

About This Mac > More Info.. > System Report > Software > Installations

Software updates will be listed when you click "Installations" in the side bar.

"About This Mac" will show latest version of system software installed.

    Best.

Dominic23 the installation file does not properly identify  the software updates installed. For example when you install a update a name  and desription  is provided. There is no identifiable update software in the installation directory that tells me what update was installed.

Snow leopard allowed you to go Apple menu, system prefences and then Software update. This would show all updates date and name so I can confirm a needed update has been installed.

dominic23's instructions about installations showed me all the updates I've received.

So, does this mean that you don't see any list of updates and installs?

Shows up perfectly fine for me as well. You haven't done anything silly like trash any System components, have you? Inevitably this will lead to many strange problems with your OSX.

I am unsure when updating a mountain lion workstation if you must login to the App store. Or do you just update and the updates are displayed and you choose to download.

I had a problem with a authentication error on updating, which I corrected by  re downloading.

An answer was provided by Dominic23's post and Lanny's accompanying screenshot. This shows you all the software updates to your machine.

There is also a log in your console, install.log, which will show you tons of details.

    The finder path is /private/var/log/install.log

Your Appstore will display a notification and you will be prompted if more updates are available in the future to your OSX version or to any installed programs in the App Store.

What I am asking is can you identify all Apple updates by looking at the installed software? Software installed shows all software.

As an example Windows shows all installed updates so a user can ensure they have all installed updates installed. Aslo Snow leopard also did this where it only showed installed updates so a user can confirm if all updates are installed.

    Again, as above.
