It did "sleeping due to too many errors"  for nealry 2 hours before I had to force shut down the Mac

That is the 2nd time it has done that

Any ideas what it is and how to fix it?

I have a WD drive connected to a airport exteme (USB 2) and I am using that for Time Machine, A back was going on during the hang (until the hang)

In my 29-ish years using Macs I am getting tired of the complete new types of flaky behavior and error messages I am finding.

I have a brand new Mac Mini i7 which had no apps running, and it was doing a Time Machine backup, overnight.

It said it would take about 19 hours so I left it overnight. Checking on it in the morning I found it completely hung requiring a hard reset. In the console log at 4AM or so I found the error which brought me to your thread...

9/7/13 3:49:14.967 AM fseventsd[54]: SLOWDOWN: client 0x7fc53d809600 (pid 213) sleeping due to too many errors (num usleeps 11)

This flakiness is on top of the flickering video I defect and the slow performance in regular tasks as Command-Space simply for the Spotlight display to occur in the top right are more than enough reasons to stay away from these junky machines running i7 processors but actually slower than my mid-2010 MacBook Pro (which by the way is the series with the manufacturing defect of graphic cards dicsussed elsewhere).

I am sticking with my MBP that I should be getting back from repair today and returning this useless Mac Mini for a full refund, something I have not had to do with Apple in the nearly 30 years I have used their products.

Try a Verify Disk in Disk Utility

The video flicker could be the grafics card (Apple can test the video card)

    Double check Apple Software Updates

It is a brand new machine that has not even had the pleasure of crashing once ;-) so not sure what Disk Utility should find on a freshly started brand new computer....  and it didn't. ;-)

The video flickr is apparently a known issue and discussed on threads here since 2011 or something - and apparently still alive and well.

Machine has latest software updates. Thanks. :-)

So, it is already packed and ready to go meet its maker (literally, Apple in this case) as a returned Mac Mini i7 tomorrow.
