So what our saying is that there is no way to use an existing Apple ID and choose "None" as a credit card option.

If so, then I have to agree with this being a bad solution.

I have an iPad issued to me by my company, I have an existing Apple ID for making pruchases from Apple via our portal; but we don't use credit cards. So i should be able to enter this Apple ID on this iPad and not have to enter my personal CC info.

Apple needs to provide a solution to this, because creating a secondardy Apple ID to obtain this option is not acceptable. Especcialy since instructs tell you not to create multiple ID's.

No, I'm not saying that. I've had my credit card on my account in the past but I removed it and now have 'none' selected and use iTunes gift cards. If you put your account on the iPad and you want to be able to buy items on it then you will need a method of paying for them

If you have an existing Apple ID that is STUCK asking for a credit card you can activate it by:

    1. Open iTunes

    2. Click on iTunes Store

    3. Scroll ALL the way down to the bottom of the page

    4. Under "Manage" click "Redeem"

    5. Enter your existing-but-stuck User ID and Password in the popup and click OK

    6. Select NONE as payment option

    7. Fill out Title, Address and Phone Number

    8. Click Continue

    9. You're done! Enjoy you're existing not-stuck account.

This is how I just solved my own problem and I thought I'd pass it along since I didn't find this posted anywhere. No need to download a free app, no need to do anything other than what is listed above.

    _Ayi_ and everyone else.

No. It doesn't work for people who didn't give a card info at SOME point.

The "none" button only appears for registered users (apple already has your whole info)

How what ? There are instructions on creating a new iTunes account without giving a credt card number on the page that this thread was originally posted from : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

e.g. if you are currently signed into an account then sign out of it, find a free app in the store and click on its free price button :

    1 free.jpg

And then click on 'create Apple id' on the popup that you get :

    2 create apple id.jpg

When I last tried it about a week ago I then got the 'none' option on the payment method screen

Did you even bother to read the topic before replying?

We are talking about an existing apple id and the inability to proceed without supplying a credit card. Your solution (posted several times already in this thread) creates a new apple id. This does not solve the problem.

what if i do not own a credit card

why cant people without a credit card make a itunes

But at least my post was an attempt to provide help - and the person hasn't yet replied to say that I haven't.

Apparently Apple changed iTunes and my previous method does not work anymore

So here is a currently working method as of iTunes 11.0.4.4.

    1. Open iTunes

    2. Click "iTunes Store" at the upper-right side.

    apple1.PNG

    3. Click on "App Store" at the middle-top.

    apple2.PNG

    4. Scroll down and find "Top Free Apps" on the right side.

    5. Click on the name of any free app (DO NOT CLICK THE FREE BUTTON).

    apple3.PNG

    6. Click the "Free" button on the left side under the app icon.

    apple4.PNG

    7. Enter your stuck Apple ID and password and click "Get".

    8. When you see the "This Apple ID has not been used with the iTunes Store" popup click "Review".

    9. Click "Continue".

    10. Check the box for "I have read and agree to these terms and conditions" and click "Agree".

    11. Click the "None" option under Payment Type. (If there is no "None" option, go back to step #5 and make sure you clicked the Name of the app, not the Free button yet).

    apple5.PNG

    12. Make sure the other required fields are filled out (Title, Name, Address, Phone Number)

    13. Click "Continue".

    14. Enjoy your unstuck Apple ID.

This does not work there is no NONE the button is not there

I am so fed up with apple - the arrogance of this company is amazing to me.

I know of no company that is so ruthless as to force you to GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD NUMBER in order to use basic functionaliy on a device that costs so much.
