After placing one photo on the map I then have to quit and restart Aperture. What happens is that after sorting one photo I then try to position the next photo there is no blue circle to be able to place around the spot where photo taken also I can not enter details in the box at the bottom of the placing box. After restarting all is OK for one photo then it starts all over again. Hope you understand the problem?

Thanks

George, that seems to be a bug Aperture 3.4.5. Is that the Aperture version you are using?

There have been recent post reporting the same problem. I am seeing it also on my mac: After placing one pin, naming the place and adjusting the circle, the next pin will not show a blue circle.

I am using the following work-around for the second pin:

    • Instead of quitting Aperture, I ctrl-click the map, and select "New Place".
    • The New-Place panel will show up with the blue circle missing. I  type the name for the place and press "Add Place" anyway.
    • Now I go to Metadata "Manage My Places" and type the name of the new place into the search field. Now I will see a panel with the blue circle and resize arrows and can edit the place.

Perhaps this will work for you to, until this bug has been fixed.

    Regards

    Léonie

    Hi LeonieDF

I tried what you said but I could not move the blue circle that was in Manage my places, it only showed photo names that I had placed before.

Thanks for your advice and I hope Apple will sort it out with an update.

I tried what you said but I could not move the blue circle that was in Manage my places, it only showed photo names that I had placed before.

Have you first created a new place in Places view, by clicking ctrl-clicking the map and secting "New Place"? And then entered a new, unique places name?

Then searching for this new name in "Metadata > Manage My Places" should find the place and let you edit it.

Then select your photos and use "Metadata > Assign Place" to add the photos to the place. This seems more reliable than using "Assign Photos".
