Jun 27, 2013 11:08 PM in response to wendy kingby Kappy,Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. Also, see OS X- How to log a kernel panic, then post a panic log so we can take a look.
What model of iMac do you have, and did it come with Lion pre-installed?

Jun 27, 2013 11:17 PM in response to Kappyby wendy king,I had a quick look at the links, and it is way out my limits of solving.
MacBook Pro
13-inch, Late 2011
4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Mac OS X lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
and yes was pre-installed.
I am using my iMac to try and find out what we need to do.
Thanks
Wendy

Jun 27, 2013 11:24 PM in response to wendy kingby Kappy,I directed you to the first step. Post a panic log. Until then we can't do a thing for you except suggest he erase the hard drive and reinstall from scratch. That will only be useful if it's not a hardware problem. Perhaps your son could post instead. And, you might tell us exactly what:
[you] have tried everything within my capabilites of updating the system ...
consisted of.
How frequently are the panics occurring? What is he running when the panics occur?
