My Mac has No OS

My Mac once was on 10.6.8, and some programs stopped working (Apple's Own Applications), so I figured of doing a restore to default. I don't have Time Machine or Time Capsule to back up my system. I only saved what I wanted to keep to my cloud, and tried to do the process with reboot and having the 10.6.2 install dvd in the drive. The disk continued ejecting with out loading up, and now that I wiped my mac clean, I don't have an OS on there.

 

I want to know if I need to get the Snow Lepoard disk from App Store to restore back to 10.6.8.

    If you do not have the discs that originally came with your computer...

     

    Replacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.

    A replacement disk you get won't be 10.6.8 anyway - I think it's 10.6.3 and then you have to download the combo updater to bring it up to 10.6.8. If your Mac is rejecting your install disk it may well reject the replacement, though it's not that expensive and miught be worth a try. Otherwise you may have a problem with the disk drive and that would require the attention of a service engineer. If you can get to an Apple Store you should make an appointement to see them - they may be able to sort it out for you or at least identify the problem.
