MacBook 4 (2008) battery not charging - no green light.  MacBook stopped charging and turned off, I thought it was due to bad battery.  I purchased new battery, which was charged 53%.  MacBook is working but battery not charging, it is at 53%. Help!

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

My Macbook stopped charging, I believe it was due to water damage. My macbook would not start, I thought my macbook battery is not good anymore, I purchased new battery today.  The new battery is 53% charged, I was able to turn on macbook.  If I keep my macbook connected the battery remains 53%, % goes down when disconnected but does not go up when connected to power.  I tried SMC reset.  I don't see green light. can you help...here is battery info:
