Yeah, tried that immediately afterwards - no luck.
I think this must be an iCloud issue - if I accidentaly deleted all the Inbox messages (which I did not) they'd still be in the Trash, right?
Well, I guess I'll have to call Apple Support - don't really wanna do that as I'm not from States so it'll cost me fortune...

So, I called Apple Care last Monday and guess what?
They helped me! :-)
After 5 interrupted calls and about 50 min talk time and 7 different advisors I finally got to Mr. Jason Arnold, Apple Senior Advisor. What a pleasant man! He solved my problem within a minute. I still don't know what caused it in a first place but I was quite happy to find out that Apple keeps a backup of my Inbox for last 7 days.
Funny enough - before those messages disappeared I had 202 of them in the Inbox, all of them read.
After the restore there were suddenly 481 and all unread! :-) That of course also included all deleted messages for the last week. So all I had to do was go through them one more time and get a rid of unwanted ones. Not a big deal.
Anyway, I have to say that it was a very nice experience talking to Jason who by the way told me to call him directly if the same thing should happen again. How about that for Apple service?
That's one of the reasons why I love Apple and own iPod, iPhone, iPad and a Mac.
