When I open Pages on my iMac and click "about pages"  it tells me I have 8, 3.0.3.

When I transfer a document from my school laptop to my iMac it tells me I need a newer version of Pages (09) to open the document.

When I go to the App Store to buy Pages 09 for $19.99 the App says "installed" so I'm not able to download Pages 09.

When I search on my iMac for Pages I only find 08 versions so it looks like I do not have 09 on my iMac.

The Pages 09 on my school laptop would not be reflectged in my name anywhere in Apple purchase records because it is not my property.

What's going on here?

Thanks,

James

If you have an older Pages version and you want to purchase the latest one at the Mac App Store, first you have to delete the old version. Open Finder, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete Pages.

Then, open the Mac App Store and purchase Pages. The most recent version will be installed, so you won't have to do anything after being installed. Also, you will be able to install Pages '09 as many times as you want in all your Macs for free

    Hi mendel1

Thank you.  This solved my problem.  I actually already purchased 09 so I was able to redownload it after deleting 08.

Question though.  I'm current at os 10.8.4.  I noticed in my history of app purchases that all apps say "installed" except os Lion and os Snowlion, which have active download buttons.  Is that just the way os is, it'll always say download instead of installed?  Probably "stupid" question because I know my computer is up to date at 10.8.4.

    Thanks for help on Pages.

It says Download because you haven't got the Mac OS X installer. This doesn't mean that OS X isn't installed, so ignore this

You could save the document to an iWork 08 version before sending it to your home iMac.
