Q: Video Cuts off early

Hello:

I am trying to use the video feature and have ran into a couple problems.

1.  The video never auto plays...or I haven't discovered the feature to have the video play upon entering the page.

2.  When I do get the video to play...usually by clicking on it, it only plays the first 7-8 seconds of it before moving on to the next page.  I did not set up anything to trigger this behavior.  I'm not sure why my 30 second video would cut out after less than 10 seconds of playback.

Thank you for your time and help.

The web inspector panel also pops up in Preview mode with some text highlighted, but I'm not sure what it is trying to tell me.  I didn't add any extra code and only followed what features offered in the Properties Panel.  See attached image.iAd_Producer_snap.png

The web inspector highlighting is likely because your mouse is over the content. To disable the web inspector, deselect Preview > Show Web Inspector When Previewing.

As far as I can tell, iBooks Author doesn't allow auto-play videos (or auto-play anything as far as I can tell). It looks like user interaction is required.

For the "moving on to the next page", I suspect you enabled auto-advance. Can you provide a screenshot of the Overview window (where you can see all the pages), with the Inspector sidebar visible, and the video page selected? Here's what I'm looking for:

    Hi Patixa:

Yes, that seems to have been the problem.  The auto-advance feature was turned on.  It now works properly.

It's too bad all video has to be user initiated.  Not sure why Apple chose that direction, instead of allowing the video to initiate when entering a new page if the author chooses to do so.

I'm just experimenting with the application and am fairly new to it.  It does an amazing job with little effort for most ad layouts.

Thank you for your time and help.

Since you are creating ads, have you tried the iAd Blueprints option? (File > New iAd Blueprints Project… or the button in the bottom left of the project picker window.)

Interesting, thank you for the heads up. I'll take a closer look a these templates.

    Thanks!
