Q: setting up Time Capsule wirelessly to router

I am getting so frustrated trying to set up my TC without the ethernet cord. I want my TC to talk with the router wirelessly so that I can have them in separate rooms. All the instrtuctions and the manual uses the non-updated AirPort Utility so it's not helpful, and then when I try to update the wireless "Create" or "Extend" a network, the TC stop communicating entirely with my comp and won't let my comp. access the info to change anything. Help!!!

Time Capsule 802.11 3TB, iOS 6.1.4

Which model TC do you have.. this is important??

    A1xxx from the base please.

If it is not the latest one.. the easiest way is to NOT use the latest utillty.. simply load the old utility into your computer.

    Here is one method.

How to load 5.6 into ML.

    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482

Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.

    2. Download and install unpkg.

    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/

Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.

You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

    Hey LaPastenague,

Thanks so much for your response. I tried what you suggested but there were a few road blocks that I couldn't get past.

My Time Capsule is the 802.11n 3TB

My Software system is OS X 10.8.4

    Mac Book Pro

When I tried to open the unpkg it says that it cannot open with the software system. When I try to change the wireless in the airport utility (6.3) it stopped connecting compltely and I had to reset the the TC to get it to connect again.

Ugh... Should I just bring it into the store? Frustrating..

You still didn't give the actual model number from the base.. A1xxx .. but I am guessing it is A1409.

When I tried to open the unpkg it says that it cannot open with the software system.

You need to allow it to open.. it is a setting in preferences to block everything you download except from the Apple store from working.. simply fix up the permissions to allow it. Go to Security and Privacy.. and change allow applications downloaded from.. anywhere. voila it will now work.

When I try to change the wireless in the airport utility (6.3) it stopped connecting compltely and I had to reset the the TC to get it to connect again.

Airport 6.3 requires ipv6 local link running.. have you enabled it. See Apple's belated document

There are plenty of other methods to load 5.6 into mountain lion.. don't give up.. just use google for another method if mine won't work for you.
