It s u c k s a lot. :)  very well, I will give it a go. I have about a half dozen songs off the top of my head that I know don't work. I will try this with those and let you know how I make out.

Well kblaquiere, when you're wrong, you're wrong.  (By that, I mean myself.)  This is what I did:

    1) Delete all music from iPhone

    2) Search for the song in my library

    3) Delete the song, when prompted to move to Recycle Bin, select "Keep File" (or whatever)

    4) Right-click and select "Delete" again.  This time I was prompted asking if I wanted to "Hide from iCloud", I'm thinking because it was a purchased song, you can't really delete it from iCloud.  I responded "Yes".

    5) Added the song back into my Library in iTunes

    6) Run Update iTunes Match

    7) Played song on iPhone, and what do you know, it played the whole way through, just fine

One interesting thing I noticed is that my song now shows as "Matched" as opposed to "Purchased", which I'm curious if that means anything.

I'm going to try doing this again with some other songs just to test a few things: 1) I streamed the song instead of downloading it and playing it via a play list, I want to see if that makes a difference, 2) I want to see if not hiding it from iCloud makes a difference.

Anyway, thank you for the advice.  I still don't understand why or how this works and it makes it even more clear to me that this is a problem that Apple can and should fix.  Nothing I'm doing on my end is changing anything on their end.  It's not like I'm re-uploading data that is being downloaded to my phone.  The song is matched/purchased, and my iPhone downloads from them.  This is clearly an issue on their end.

    Hi,

I am not sure if this solution solves everyone's problems but at least it solved mine.

Its a problem with the files we upload. Some sort of corruption that ios can´t read. All we need to do is convert it to AAC forma using itunes. Then ios can read it.

I have had this problem for ages.  I have tried so many of the 'fixes' that I am left with no patience.  Why should I waste another afternoon trying to sort out what is clearly an Apple issue?

Since I had the issue I have bought a new computer and used that computer to add music to the cloud, yet still when I download to my iPhone 4S, several songs are cut off 30 seconds towards the end.  It doesn't appear to have anything to do with 'old technology' as someone has guessed.

The guy I spoke to at the Genius bar had cancelled his Match subscription due to this issue!  What exactly has to happen before Apple fixes this, or at least acknowledges the issue?  It's a disgrace.

The more we complain, hopefully the more they will become aware it is an issue.

While the clearly was an Apple issue initially, they have done their part and fixed it at some point. See above. Quit crying and fix your part. You'll be glad you finally did once you do. Apple likely fixed the bug, but it doesn't make sense for them to reset every users iCloud library. I now have a new iPad and Match still works seamlessly.

kblaquiere if you had read my post you would see that on a brand new PC, with new songs recently added to iTunes, the same issue happens, so clearly Apple has not 'done their bit'.

Telling people to 'quit crying' when they have paid for a service that doesn't work isn't that much of a help, nor is suggesting to move to a Mac as a fix.

Just to throw my two cents in here, this does (and has) fixed the problem for certain songs, but I have also experienced this issue with newly purchased songs.  Whatever the issue is, it is not isolated to old computers or older versions of iTunes.  Whenever I get a song that doesn't work, I have to go through the procedure I posted a while back, and then the song changes from "Purchased" to "Matched", and then magically it plays fine.  Something is amiss.

    Come on iOS 7!

Ok, fair enough. Maybe apple hasn't changed a thing. But all I'm saying is as you can read from myself, Caliban, and others is that this fix works. Old or new computers and songs, iTunes purchased or manually added. If you've struggled with this issue for over a year now and are about to give up on match like I was. Just give this a try. There isn't one comment from someone who tried it and it failed to work. And it's the only method I've seen proven to work. If someone hands you a solution don't just scoff at it and throw it in their faces complaining. Give it a go. All you have to lose if about 5 minutes and some pride. And many headaches will no longer have to be dealt with. But do what you like, as long as it's not complaining about something that can be fixed easily.

OK I'm not sure which fix you are saying fixes this easily.

It seems that the suggested fix is for me to make a note of the songs that are cut off, then go to the computer and delete the song from the cloud, then re-add the song to the cloud.  To even identify each song that gets cut off is a big task on it's own, let alone doing the re-adding to the cloud.

Pride is irrelevant, it's just a major PITA to fix this, and if there is a 5 minute fix mentioned in this thread, I must have missed it or interpreted it as incorrectly as you have misinterpreted my posts as 'scoffing'.

You don't need to make a note of anything. Just delete your entire library, without moving the files to the trash. Then Drag the entire library to iTunes. Let the computer do the work. It is quick and easy. The only PITA a is that you have to re-create playlists. I hope this helps I'm not just trying to be an A S S. This literally took me less than five minutes, letting the computer add the library back to the cloud overnight afterwards, and I haven't had any problems since.

The key is deleting your iCloud copies of your songs.

And don't forget to turn off match on all of your idevices before you begin. Ok, maybe a slight pain in the ... But it works.

The only songs I have cut off are songs I have downloaded from the iTunes store.  Not my own music.  I have deleted them from the cloud and my computer, , I deleted from my device, I shut off match on my device, rebooted, turned it bak on, downloaded on my PC from the cloud.  Still the same problem.
