Q: banner page

How does one turn off the banner page in 10.8 when printing (in my case) to a Xerox printer?

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

By default, the core printing system in OS X (CUPS) does not send a banner page - it is disabled. So if you are getting one then it is most likely being generated by the Xerox driver (PPD) or it could be self generated. For the latter, check the printers menu for a banner page entry - possibly located under the TCP/IP menu. If you cannot locate such a menu, then please reply with the model of Xerox you have and I will check the driver for 10.8.

The other possible cause for this printed page is a SNMP query from OS X. Instead of simply responding to the query, the Xerox is printing the content of the query. So when you are checking the menus, look for an SNMP entry and disable it. Note that disabling SNMP could stop you from getting toner/ink supply readings, so see if disabling it stops the banner and if not, turn it back on.

Thank you.   It does apprear that it is specifically generated by the Xerox preferences and as soon as I can get a system administrator to log on I will dissable -
