Q: Aperture Slideshow crashes now.

Trying to add music from garageband to Aperture slideshow. Now slideshow immediately crashes when I try to open it. I've done all the repair, permission repair, database repair but no luck. Any slideshow in Aperture. Slideshows in iPhoto all work.

What is your Aperture version? And your MacOS X version?

    • Does it happen for any song you are trying to add from iTunes, or only for a certain song?
    • Does Aperture crash, when you create a slideshow in a new Aperture Library created for testing?
    • If yes, does Aperture crash when working in a different User account?
See: Isolating an issue by using another user account

I think the dissconnect was using trying to use garageband. The music browser was not happy.

I popped over and created a new library and slideshow promply crashed when I tried to add one.  I then went into the Aperture_Presets_Slideshow...and the window popped open for a split second and also caused a total crash.

    Aperture 3.4.5, iMac 2012 10.8.4.

You were using a file created with GarageBand? Have you saved your GarageBand projects with an audio preview? Perhaps you should save the project again.

O.k. that leaves out your current Aperture Library.  But does it work from a different user account? If not, then you would have a system wid trouble with Aperture and audio, and need to reinstall.

But if it works from a different accout, we'll know that some setting, plug-in, login item only used in your current account is causing this.

I discovered it was my Aperture Plist. I used the info from user ds store "step by step to fix your Mac". I found and trashed the apple aperture plist (preferences) and restarted Aperture. Access to slideshow was restored and everything is in place as it should be.
