Jul 4, 2013 4:35 PM in response to BDAquaby joe trainor,Thanks! I'm not particularily tech- skilled, but the diagrams look straight -forward enough. I was actually hoping someone knew of a cheap screen available at the electroniccs stores that would work with the PowerMac and could be adapted to it's ACD port, but could try this repair if nothing was available. Thank you again!

Jul 4, 2013 10:39 PM in response to joe trainorby MichelPM,★HelpfulWhat model PowerMac G4 is this?
Does it have any other video connector beside the ADC connector?
You could replace the current video card with a compatible video card the has both ADC and a DVI port.
That way you could buy a flat screen monitor with a DVI port to hook up to your PowerMac.
Without more info about your PowerMac model, there is no way to recommend the right graphics cards that are compatible with your PowerMac model.

Jul 5, 2013 12:01 AM in response to joe trainorby BDAqua,Well, what other port does the Video card have?
You could get an ADC->DVI adapter...

But you may have a DVI port or VGA already.

Jul 5, 2013 8:40 PM in response to BDAquaby joe trainor,I didn't even know I had another usable port till I read the links you provided! I'm not sure you can see my reply to
MichelPM above, but I'm a little behind the curve on this stuff and apreciate everyone's help! I wanted to give you another 'this helped me' but the link seems to be gone. By your information, I have a mirror-door G4 with dual ports, ADC and DVI. I can get a standard flatscreen with DVI connector and plug in? Thanks!

Jul 5, 2013 9:03 PM in response to MichelPMby joe trainor,Hi MichelPM I replied to your post earlier but seem to have lost it while replying to BDAqua. The system profiler indicates I have a Power Mac G4, machine model PowerMac 3.6, with NVIDIA GeForce4 MX video card with both
ADC and DVI ports (I'm a retired construction worker still in the 20th century and the computer is an old hand-me-up from the family, so it and I are both at our technical limts here). But I'm thinking I can just get an inexpensive flatscreen with a DVI connector and it would be compatible? Thanks very much to both of you for your help!

Video Card: GeForce4 MX VRAM Type: DDR SDRAM Details: By default, this model has a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics card with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM. Standard VRAM: 32 MB Maximum VRAM: 32 MB Display Support: Dual Displays Resolution Support: 1920x1200* 2nd Display Support: Dual/Mirroring 2nd Max. Resolution: 1920x1200* Details: Apple reports that the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX is capable of simultanously supporting dual displays (one using the ADC port and another using the DVI port -- DVI to VGA adpater also included). 1920x1200 maximum for digital displays and 1600x1200 maximum for analog. http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=PowerMac3,6
It may have trouble with some "widescreen" shortscreen resolutions.
I'd search for a 1920*1200 LCD...

Jul 6, 2013 6:24 PM in response to joe trainorby Texas Mac Man,I use an Acer 23" flat screen on my G4. Should cost $100+. I'm using 1920 x 1080 resolution.
It replaced an Acer 17" that was about 10 years old. You'll need an adapter cable that connects to the Mac.
Cheers, Tom

Jul 8, 2013 6:14 AM in response to joe trainorby Boscobrains,You might try eBay. I got a Studio Display for only $35 there. There are a few vendors that deal in stuff from companies that went out of business, so they have quite a supply. You can get quite a deal there.
