Apr 6, 2013 11:31 AM in response to BJKKLGby pjdube,Unfortunately it doesn't do it automatically. However you can click and keep pressed on each one and move them/sort them alphabetically. I hope that helps.

Apr 6, 2013 11:34 AM in response to pjdubeby BJKKLG,Thanks. It's hard to imagine that there is no automatic way to do this.

Jun 17, 2013 11:57 AM in response to BJKKLGby houston-mem,Automatic email folder sorting is not an esoteric feature. It is fundamental. It is incredible to me that Apple Mail does not have this feature. For this reason alone I could not use Apple Mail for any business. I have too many folders, and nested folders, to spend time manually moving folders around. And I create folders every day.

Dec 5, 2013 11:34 AM in response to Gunnerjoeby Tualatin Web,Gunnerjoe,
Thanks for the link to a work-around, that does work.
Apple really should fix this issue so that when I dynamically add a new folder it should show up in alphabetical order, not requiring me to:
- disable the accoun
- quit
- restart Mac Mail
- then re-enable the account

Dec 6, 2013 11:33 AM in response to Tualatin Webby Eric Root,Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Dec 6, 2013 11:36 AM in response to Eric Rootby Tualatin Web,Eric,
The irony of visiting the Feedback page is that Mac Mail is missing from Apple's list of Apps to provide feedback on. Now if that doesn't define Catch-22....

Apr 28, 2014 9:29 AM in response to BJKKLGby pocket8077,I'm on Mavericks and I know this is an old post, but it came up just now when I was searching for the same issue. I found an older article that basically describes from the Preferences pane selecting and disabling the account / re-enableing. This worked when I disabled the account, quit Mail, opened Mail, and re-enabled the account. Must refresh it or something. Folders I had just added were resorted in alphabetical order with the other foldres.

Aug 27, 2014 8:21 AM in response to pocket8077by LearnFromLee,Yes, this worked. Thanks Pocket! I think this goes to show it is a bug/error. Maybe not a mail issue, but a caching issue... Thoughts?

May 10, 2016 8:46 AM in response to BJKKLGby Daktarihoedspruit,I had the same problem and found a solution.
Export the mailbox with all its subfolders on your desktop.
Import the mailbox again and they will come back sorted alphabetically .
I am running El Capitan
