Is this the new AC model? If not give us the model number from the bottom label.

What utility are you running? If AC you must use 6.3 the latest.. earlier ones don't work.. and you need to turn on ipv6 local-link.

    See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597

Otherwise try the setup in complete network isolation by ethernet..

Do the reset again.. if it fails.. there is a chance the AE is faulty.

LOL.. I was thinking you were having AC problems and your using a pre-N wireless extreme.. no wonder you have problems..

You cannot use any version 6 utility .. it has to be setup with v5.. and you cannot load directly v5 into Mountain Lion.. see if you have a windows PC .. the latest version utility is v5.6 for that.. or lion or prior Mac OS..

Otherwise you are forced to load 5.6 onto mountain lion with a bit of trickery.

How to load 5.6 into ML.

    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482

Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.

Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg

    2. Download and install unpkg.

    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/

Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.

Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.

You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.

For screen shots see this post.

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4668746?tstart=0

There are other methods.. just google if you don't like this one.. but the principle is the same.. you need to unpackage the utility and load it manually.

My friend Mr. LaPastenaque, thank you for your guidance it work very well now I can use the old version of Airport Extreme Version for my wireless internet...

However now I have another problem, I try to extend the Aiport Extreme as my base station with my Airport Express that I recently bought but it wont work, is there away that I could fix this problem.. I use the Airport Utility but it only shows the Airport Extreme connection but the intended extended Airport Express did not appear..

No you cannot extend the N and G boxes unless you go right back to WDS.. and that means using WEP security .. AFAIK the latest express also needs v6 utility so you are really not going to be able to do this.. nor would you want to.

Extend wireless.. by using ethernet or EOP (homeplug) adapters.. or simply buy another G wireless extreme.. they are $10 on ebay.. or buy a second hand N wireless extreme. Don't buy the old express  and a TC is not really going to be very good unless you spend money on fixing the power supply but there are plenty of old extreme on ebay now with the new AC model released.. I bought one for myself for who knows what.. a Gen5 for $80 plus post.. really good value for money. And much more trouble free for the moment than the new Gen6. You can pick up a Gen1 or Gen2 extreme for probably half that.

Or the older models probably brand new in the apple refurbished store..

Or of course another express. Anything you like.. but you cannot mix G and N models in the way you want.
