I want to save a single page out of a pdf file as a jpeg. The pdf file is a journal, so there are many pages.

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

depends on if youre using Acrobat FULL, or just Acrobat reader, i dont think reader lets you save a page, the pro DOES that I use, I use PRO everyday for like 20 years.   A way around that is download a MAC screen snapshot program like SnapNDrag

or any other FREE screen capture program, I love snapNdrag, its simple and easy, will save your PDF page as a JPEG for you super fast and easy.

there are LOTS of screen capture programs, most are free

    I have a simple solution:

    1. Open the PDF file in Preview (Apple's default application that reads PDF files).
    2. Go fo File > Print in Preview, and select the single page you wish to print.
    3. Instead of printing it, click the "PDF" button at the bottom left, then "Save As PDF" from the dropdown.

    You've done it!

Point taken.  My method saves a single page PDF.

With 10.8.4, it seems that one can elicit the option to save as a jpeg file (or other formats) by holding the *Option* key, then going to 'file,' and 'save as,' where the choice of file formats is offered.

I believe you could take a screen shot of a pdf page (control + shift + 4), then change it to a jpeg in this way? Just a thought. I hope this helps with your issue.

If there is an easier way, I would like to know myself.  I was having the same problem, following an upgrade to 10.8.4 from Snow Leopard.

Open the file in Preview. From the menu bar, select

    View > Thumbnails

if it's not already selected. Right-click the page you want to export and choose

    Export As...

from the contextual menu. In the dialog that opens, choose JPEG from the Format menu.
