HT2292 screen display  states ipod is disabled connect to itunes how do i resolve this issue

I have recently purchased ipod touch 5th gen. First of all it would not recognise pass code and kept locking device now it is displaying the message above.

 

I would be grateful for any assistance in resolving this issue

iPod touch, iOS 6
