HI..I left town for a few weeks and disconnected my G5.  When I returned I am unable to start it.  The light is on, but the computer does not respond when I hold the power button.  Any help is much appreciated.

Chances are your G5's internal PRAM battery has died.

If in the U.S. ,purchase replacement PRAM battery from here.

Hi, I am having a similar issue. I wonder if you got your problem resolved and if so please share. In my case the computer was turned completely off. My mom went to use it and noticed the white LED light was already on even though we had not turned the computer on. I thought it was asleep but it would not wake from sleep. I pressed the power button for several seconds thinking it had crashed but it was unresponsive. As a last resort I uplugged the power completely, opened the case and pressed the CUDA reset button. Plugged power back in and as soon as I did the white LED came on without actually turning it on. The white LED just turns on as soon as it is plugged in with power.  There is no sound whatsoever, it is completely silent.

Is that similar to your issue? I had a spare NVRAM battery that I tried but no luck. I am worried it may be the power supply or logic board or both. That would be an expensive repair for an old computer but since it also has that nice 22" Apple display monitor with ADC I hate to give up on just yet. Hopefully you fixed your issue or some other people here can offer some ideas or are familiar with this problem.

No Apple store near me. Do you know what was the issue? A bad power supply? a Bad logic board? Both? I really would appreciate if you could tell me what they fixed. I am about the order a new power supply and logic board and if it was another issue you could really help me out.

Thanks for the reply. Resetting the SMU was the very first thing I did. Also changed out NVRAM battery. Well glad you got yours working at least. I wish my problem were that simple.
