i want to print my contact sheet in the order that i have manually organized them. i have the Project set to "Manual" but i seem to be missing a setting in the print dialog. is there a way to do this? should i create an album first or something?

i have tried to do a google search on this with terms like "manual" and "contact sheet" and "printing" and "aperture" and this is basically a black hole. also, i am not seeing anthing in the help explaining how to control the order of the prints in contact sheets.

thanks for any help

    Jon,

I do not see where the problem is. Maybe I am missing something.

When I am arraging images in a project manually and then select them all and use the command ⌘P to print the selection as a contact sheet, they will be printed in this order by default. No option necessary.

How are you trying to print your contact sheet?

Maybe we are having different Aperture version? I tried this in version 3.4.5 with Mt. Lion 10.8.4.

    Regards

Jon -- note that you must select the first Image before using "Select All".  Aperture uses the order selected to lay out the contact sheet.

    You can verify this yourself:

    • Select the last Image, then run "select all", then print and select "Contact Sheet".  The last Image will be first.
    • Select the first Image, then run "select all", then print and select "Contact Sheet".  The first Image will be first.
    • Select no Image, then ...

You are welcome, Jon. Kirby's post is the missing link. Always select the image you want to start with first.

thanks i am on 6.05 and on Lion.

6.0.5 is your Safari version, right?
