Q: I bought Mac OS X Snow Leopard new Version 10.6.3 cause I needed to install my 2013 Office 365. While about to install it say "To install Mac OS X Snow Leopard, you need an Intel-based Mac."

Please help I dont know how to install the MAC OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.3 cost me $19.99+ tax when installing the prompt asking that I need to have intel-base mac to install it.

My system is Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 - Processor Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4  2MB L3 cache per processor with memory 2 GB DDR SDRAM.

I was advised to update to snow leopard to install my 2013 Office 365 that I purchased for a year subscription.

How to upgrade my powerPC G4 to intel-based and should I get more space 5-7GB and what type and where to purchase it.

Your help is much appreciated as I dont want to buy a new PC.

You can't install Snow Leopard on a Power Mac

There is no way to upgrade a PowerPC Mac to an Intel Mac because the architecture is so different between the two processors and the supporting chip set

The only way you can do this is to purchase new hardware

That's not possible, but you don't need to buy a brand new computer; any Mac model released in the last seven years is capable of running Snow Leopard. Secondhand computer stores and places such as Amazon and eBay may sell these.

    Allan,

Therefore I am selling my CPU or junk it . I was given a thought that I could just upgrade mine to newer version but then again it is not possible as you mentioned. I just dont want to throw away stuff and pile it in dumster rather than an eco-friendly solutions. At any rate thanks again for your support.

Check with the Apple recycle program. They will try to get as much as they can out of it rather just trashing it.
