Jul 18, 2013 3:59 PM in response to grant142by Bmxracer546,what carrier do u have? AT&T? VIRISON? SPRINT? all i know with them is when being on a contract they record you text messages. any message you send is saved with your carrier. you can go to a store and ask for a print out of your messages from the first message you sent to the last message you sent. even if you delete the message off of your phone its still saved.

Jul 18, 2013 4:32 PM in response to Bmxracer546by ChrisJ4203,I'm sorry, but that is very bad information. All they record is the number you texted to, or received from. If it is an iMessage, they do not record anything, since that is handled as data, like an email. All they know there is that you sent and received data packets.

You seem to be saying that if you are on a contract the carrier records text messages. By implication, are you suggesting that if you are not on a contract then nothing is recorded? I think ChrisJ4203 is correct.

I have check further. It is not possible to get a print of all messages going back to the first one you ever sent because the carriers do not keep copies. I found this article and it appears to relate to SMS only and not imessage http://mashable.com/2013/03/19/cops-want-text-messages-logs/

Jul 18, 2013 4:57 PM in response to Bmxracer546by ChrisJ4203,From what carrier?
Going back to what Ocean20 just provided you, I spent 30 years as a law enforcement officer and even with a subpoena I couldn't get them as they did not save the data, just the number as I told you earlier. Also, given the number of SMS/MMS sent on a daily basis, where do you think they would store this amount of data?
You are saying that you got a printout of the content of your text messages, exact verbiage? From which carrier? What state to you live in?
