Q: All of a sudden, my MacBook Pro is running very slow?!?

I have had my MacBook Pro for a about a year and a half and have had NO problems with it. A few weeks ago, my MacBook has become very slow, to the point where I have to restart the computer. Most of the time the dreaded beach ball appears and my MacBook just freezes. This occurs with the simpilest tasks such as opening Safari.

This is becoming very frustrating and I am losing my patience, I am hoping it is something that I can fix on my own to avoid going into Apple.

PLEASE HELP!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

It may be that you have some third-party software installed that's causing the problem.

Open Terminal (Applications>Utilities) and copy and paste the following:

    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'

Post any output in a reply here.

CCleaner is garbage and can do much more harm than good - "cleaning" apps of that type should NEVER be used.

That's very, very bad advice and I hope that the OP will ignore it.

This is good. It means you have no third party kernel extensions.

It still amazes me how that ever made it into the App Store.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the boot drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then run the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics.

Even if the test is negative, you should make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly.

You do not need Seagate drivers, when your disk is correctly formatted. Uninstall seagate software.

That will probably be a relief.

Also check whether Belcara software is really Yosemite proof. If not uninstall.
